Thymosin Alpha-1 is a 28-amino-acid peptide hormone naturally produced by the thymus gland. Approved for clinical use in over 35 countries (notably for chronic hepatitis B and C, and as adjunct cancer therapy).

Mechanism & evidence - the honest frame
Mechanism & evidence: Thymosin alpha-1 (thymalfasin; historically marketed as Zadaxin) is an immunomodulator that promotes T-cell maturation, enhances regulatory T-cells and balances Th1/Th17 responses, acting partly through dendritic-cell signalling. Strongest oncology signal is a phase-2 setting: adding Tα1 to dacarbazine in stage-IV melanoma produced more confirmed responses than chemotherapy alone (Maio et al., J Clin Oncol 2010) - a positive phase-2 signal in small numbers, not a practice-changing phase-3 result. Approved abroad as an adjuvant in hepatitis B/C and certain cancers; US availability is off-label. Sepsis/infectious-disease data remain mixed.
